from the untouched barents

At the front line of climate change, the ocean, the coastlines and coastal communities are being disproportionately impacted by increasing carbon dioxide (CO2) and other greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions from human activities.

The ocean plays a central role in regulating the Earth’s climate. The Fifth Assessment Report published by the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) in 2013 revealed that it has thus far absorbed 93% of the extra energy from the enhanced greenhouse effect, with warming now being observed at depths of 1,000 m.

Atmospheric warming is leading to the melting of inland glaciers and ice, causing rising sea levels with significant impacts on shorelines.
We need to take care of the hand, in which we feed upon.

our mission

Barentine International is committed to the quality of the sea reflected in our products and is passionate about the environment to maintain the quality we have today and to our next generations. We participate in the UN's goal of preventing plastic and microplastics from landing in the marine areas in Norway. Our contribution to this is added by our collaboration with Green Point Norway.

Green Dot Norway

Green Dot Norway is a collaboration set together by the Ministry of Environment and Norwegian businesses, these agreements have created a revised and expanded producer responsibility for Norwegian companies. Those businesses have a higher degree of obligation on the environmental front and is given a higher focus on the environmental aspects around sustainable packaging and recycling. Green Dot was established in 1997 and is today responsible for the day-to-day operation of the planning and execution of recycling for plastic, cardboard and paper packaging of most companies that deals with products to the retail market.

Through the collaboration with Green Point Norway, Barentine AS ensures that our internal routines are kept in order through active recall of our packaging products, with this result we contribute to a reduction of over 46,000 tonnes of cardboard packaging per year.

Barentine has a genuine interest in the sea, and the importance of our guidelines affects our industry, so we have made demands that our fleet always use the best quality equipment on the market, thereby reducing catches in the field and avoiding equipment remains on the seabed.

Ghost fishing is a major theme when it comes to litter, and every year Ghost Fishing kills several thousand species in our oceans. With this we encourage all marine vessels to label their equipment, as well as report to the Global Ghost Gir Initiative if any of the equipment is lost during fishing. We can do a lot alone, but together we make a difference. Help us help you.
